Silver and Gold Senior Club Community Bereavement Education

St. Joseph, MO | July 21, 2016

In partnership with Silver and Gold Senior Club

One-on-one conversations about grief and the bereavement process were a key focus at the Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation bereavement workshop in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Attendees discussed their personal bereavement journey, how they're coping with grief, and how they can better work toward achieving healing.

Grief is a deeply personal journey that affects each of us differently, and one that can have a powerful impact on a person’s emotional, physical, and mental well-being. In light of grief’s impact on terminally-ill patients and their families, hospice focuses a great deal of time and care effort into helping people cope and heal throughout the bereavement process.

The grief process is a primary focus of our educational outreach, as we seek to help the grieving understand their feelings and begin to achieve healing. In pursuit of this goal, we once again had the honor of partnering with the Silver and Gold Senior Club of St. Joseph, Missouri in an effort to educate the senior community about the bereavement process and help them better understand and cope with their own grief experiences.

Bereavement specialist Ann McClintick provided an in-depth educational workshop to over 240 members of the St. Joseph and surrounding area communities at the Wyatt Park Baptist Church. Together, Ann and the attendees explored the emotional and intellectual aspects of grief, and how to best begin moving forward toward healing after the death of a loved one.

Attendees were also given a special presentation by Volunteer Manager Kathy Fetters concerning the many volunteer opportunities available to seniors, particularly our Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer programs.

We are honored to have the opportunity to provide help and healing for those in the St. Joseph community, and to have a partner in the Silver and Gold Senior Club, so wholly dedicated to bereavement education.
