A Global Day of Giving
In a season marked by huge discount sales and one-time-only bargains, it is easy to become swept up in the rush of large-scale discount days such as Black Friday or Cyber Monday. In this time of fevered shopping, Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to the charitable spirit of the holiday season. Giving Tuesday, created in 2012 by 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, is a united, global effort to support charities and non-profits that have a profoundly positive impact within the communities they serve.
Over 30,000 organizations participate in #GivingTuesday
Since its creation, Giving Tuesday has become a globally impactful charitable movement. With over 30,000 organizations participating annually, the Giving Tuesday movement continues to grow year after year, with global giving exceeding 26 million dollars in 2014. Giving Tuesday continues to serve as the shining example of the power of a globally united spirit of giving.
Our Community Impact
Throughout 2015, we have had the honor of supporting incredible community efforts, educational programs, and community outreach projects. Among these efforts and programs are the OSU Foundation relief effort for those impacted by the OSU homecoming tragedy, the relief effort for the Sandy Hook shooting, support of the Los Angeles non-profit Hispanic homeless clinic, and sponsorship of the Senior Care Live Radio talk show.
We are honored to support organizations that share in our goals and partner with impactful non-profits in bettering the communities that they serve.
Our Foundation was honored with the opportunity to bring quality education concerning end-of-life care and grief recovery to the 93rd annual Kansas City Southwest Clinical Society Fall Clinical Conference.
In partnership with our friends at Cure for ALS, we were honored to once again sponsor the 2015 Terance Mathis Celebrity Golf Classic and support their efforts to raise funds for the Emory ALS Center in the fight against ALS.
Our foundation was honored to be a F.A.S.T. stroke awareness sponsor at the 2015 American Heart Association Johnson County Heart Walk in Warrensburg, Missouri.
What Do We Do With Your Donations?
Our donors are the driving force behind our efforts and make everything that we do possible. Made possible by our donors support, we can continue making a powerful impact in communities across the nation by providing education, support, resources, and funding.
Education and Support
We provide education, free resources, and support regarding excellent end-of-life care, caregiver assistance, and compassionate resolution services.
We provide funding to other non-profit agencies, healthcare providers, and caregivers who share our goal of improving the quality of life for the terminally ill, their families, caregivers, and friends.
We Sponsor Crossroads Kids
Annually, 4.8 million children in the United States experience the death of one or both parents. Sadly, after the loss of a loved one, the grief of children is often overlooked. The need for children to have a safe place to learn, heal and grow after the death of a loved one led us to the creation of Crossroads Kids. Crossroads Kids is a 3-day, 2-night camp that honors the validity of child and family grief by facilitating the healing process. By incorporating therapeutic activities into a fun camping experience, Crossroads Kids allows children to connect with peers who are also experiencing grief. It is a time for attendees to share their experiences in a safe place while developing coping skills to take with them when they leave.
2015 at a Glance
Every year, we set the bar higher for ourselves as a charitable foundation, ever improving our standards of operating excellence. This year has been a tremendous opportunity for us, as we have been able to continue pouring richly into the communities we serve across the United States.
Monetary Outpouring to Communities in 2015
We strive for complete openness and transparency as a charitable foundation. In this chart, a breakdown of our community impact is provided by highlighting the allocation of the $228,399 used towards programs, grief recovery, and contributions to patient advocate non-profits.
Donors —The Lifeblood of Our Efforts
Our donors are the bedrock upon which our Foundation stands, and the spirit of giving that our donors demonstrate inspires us to achieve more for the communities we serve each year. We are continually humbled by our donors’ generous giving and are honored that many of our donors shared with us the memories of their loved ones.
"My sister is in a local Senior Home with Parkinson's where you have been servicing her for the past few weeks. This donation is my thanks to you for making her final days more pleasant."
"My sister and I chose Crossroads Hospice to care for my mother four years ago, until her death in June 2011. We again chose Crossroads to care for our father from January 2015 until his passing November 6, 2015. With Dad, we were able to keep him at home until he passed, and we couldn't have done it without Crossroads. We especially thank his dedicated nurse who was with him from Day 1. Thank you, Crossroads, for all that you do. Both my sister and I sing your praises to everyone -- you are all true angels."
"My close friend, his wife, and their son sent me a check for $75 to "do with as I see fit". I decided to donate it to Crossroads Hospice in memory of my wife who passed away peacefully under this organization’s great care."
